I am standing here right now not sure what to think.  You see over the past few days or maybe a week or more I have seen the strangest comeback.  It's kind of like when the grass gets really brown and you think it is dead, but then it rains and the next morning it is all green again.  Or maybe it is more like an iguana I used to have as a pet.  Every once in  awhile he would escape from his lovely home and try to explore the basement where he lived, except in Iowa the winters get cold and basements tend to get cold as well so when I would find him he would be all cold and stiff.  I would then place him back in his cage under the lights and although he seemed to be dead, after a few minutes in the heat of the lamps he would be moving around and eating fruits and vegetables again.  Anyway, the comeback I have observed is something like that.  It is the resurgence of In-line skating in Joplin.  For the longest time there was essentially only one in-liner that would come to the park on a regular basis and I would always tell him that it was his job to grow the scene if he wanted us to do events or sell stuff in the shop.  Well, he has stuck with it and worked on recruiting people and now there are 4 or 5 people on skates in the park and there were more kids looking at skates on-line today.  I don't want to be too quick to make the call, but it seems that in-line may be coming back.  Is this possible?  I guess only time will tell.

I guess the one encouraging part of this is that it reminds me that if a person on a mission doesn't give up, eventually people come around.  Just think how much more powerful that kind of perseverence would be if the mission was telling people about Jesus and we knew we had God himself working through us to save peoples lives and not just something as trivial as what kind of wheels are you going to use to cruise around the park.
